Serena Hotels brings ITF Futures Tennis Tournament to Pakistan

2017 was marked as a promising year for international sports in Pakistan. The year saw many international players coming to play on Pakistan’s sports grounds. Serena Hotels organised ITF Futures Tennis Tournament at Pakistan Tennis Federation Complex, Islamabad from 4th December till 10th December, 2017.

The tournament featured internationally ranked players from around the world in the Qualifying Round as well as the Main Draw. A total of 18 international players from 8 different countries were featured in the tournament. 7 players from Russia while 2 each from Spain, Ukraine & Canada and 1 each from Germany, Austria, France, Singapore & Tajikistan participated in the event.

The winning title of the final match from Men’s Single was crowned by top seed Russian Ivan Nedelko who knocked out Spaniard Pere Riba in straight sets to win men’s single title of Serena Hotels ITF Futures Tennis Tournament, 2017 on 10th December at Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Complex Garden Avenue. Both players exhibited exciting skills, displayed sportsman spirit and the spectators applauded them throughout the match.

Pakistani duo of Aqeel Khan and Shahzad Khan bagged the victory in Men’s doubles final as they overpowered Pere Riba of Spain and Luka Pavlovic of France in the final match of the Serena Hotels ITF Futures tournament at the PTF Complex.

Ambassador of Turkey, Sadik Babür Girgin was the chief guest of the of the concluding ceremony. He expressed his pleasure for being chief guest at such a momentous occasion. He appreciated Serena Hotels’ efforts for the promotion of international sports and culture in Pakistan as a part of its corporate social responsibility. He thanked President Pakistan Tennis Federation, Salim Saifullah and CEO Serena Hotels, Aziz Boolani for inviting him to witness the exciting final.

He expressed the hope that the Turkish players would also participate in the future tournaments. He said Pakistan and Turkey enjoyed strong brotherly relations. The President PTF on the occasion expressed his pleasure at the successful conduction of the event. He also asked other international players to come to Pakistan and participate in the future sports events, especially tennis.
