Pakistan implements International Human Rights Conventions in the true spirit: Kamran Michael

It is a matter of great pleasure for me that today our nation joins the international community for celebration of International Human Rights Day. Being the State Party to the Human Rights related international Conventions, Pakistan stands committed to implement the provisions in true spirit. The Government has already taken some concrete and effective measures to ensure protection of Human Rights in line with the national and international commitments.

It is our national duty to ensure the well-being of all our people, particularly the vulnerable segments of society i.e women, children and minorities and provide them equal opportunities without any discrimination. Today, I reaffirm my pledge to protect Human Rights in the country so that our citizens live in peaceful environment and grow as productive and secure nation of Pakistan.

Being cognizant of the situation of Human Rights in the country, we are continuously making legal and administrative reforms to cope with the multi pronged challenges ahead. The Ministry of Human Rights is making all out possible efforts for protection and promotion of Human Rights in the country through effective coordination mechanism with the Provincial Governments and other stakeholders. We have also established the National Commission for Human Rights to monitor Human Rights violations in the country more effectively.  I call upon the fellow citizens to come forward and join hands with the Government for the noble cause of Human Rights. I also appreciate the UN agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations for continuously advocating and highlighting the Human Rights concerns. I hope they will continue pursuing this important mission with the same zeal and vigor.  May Allah bless us in this noble cause-Aameen.
