Cambodian People’s Party claims victory in general elections

Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has claimed a to win a landslide victory in a general election that did not have any serious challengers. The party is headed by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who has been in power since 1985. The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) said it had won 80% of the vote, giving it at least 100 of 125 seats. Election staff say turnout was 82.71%.

Official election results are reportedly not expected until mid-August.
