Editor’s Note

2021 has reached its end, and you are holding this year’s last issue of the Melange International Magazine. The 2021 year remained challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We can presume that many of the current challenges, such as regional insecurity, domestic political instability, and unsteady economic growth, will also feature the dominant part of the coming year. As we enter the New Year in a month, we must be able to foresee those challenges and deliberate over their respective solutions so that we tackle the rising issues head-on. This is largely what many of the contributors to the December 2021 Issue of the Melange Magazine have tried to do.

In Melange Magzine’s December Issue, we tried to highlight multiple facets of Pakistan’s and Uzbekistan’s relations along the lines of cultural commonalities, in addition to underscoring the fact that strong bilateral ties, cultural linkages, and common history are catalyst for the regional economic integration and trade linkages. Moreover, the emerging South-Central Asian connectivity looks significant in revitalizing old traditions, cultural connections, and religious bindings between the two countries.

The Editor-in-Chief of the Melange International Magzine, Ms. Amna Malik, penned the ‘Big Story’ of the December Issue, titled “Charismatic Leadership of His Excellency President Shavkat Mirziyoyev”. Ms. Malik examines how H.E. Mirziyoyev adopted the policy of connectivity between Central and South Asian states. The piece highlights Uzbekistan’s dynamic governance model and regional policy for rapprochement with the Central Asian Republics (CARs). The country’s strengthening political dialogue at the highest level has also produced myriad practical results, particularly propping a new thrust to regional collaboration in the economic, transport, trade, and communication spheres. It should be noted that President Mirziyoyev’s foreign policy, based on regional connectivity, is not confined to CARs alone. His Excellency has initiated the regional Central Asia region’s connectivity with South Asia as well. Examining the importance of geopolitical and geo-economic pillars, Mr. President pursued various conduits of cooperation between regional countries. Ms. Malik further elaborates on the pivotal role of Pakistan and Uzbekistan in linking the two regions to explore the untapped trade and investment potential.

The Melange International Magazine strives to do its part by publishing extensive analyses with profound impact through a diverse readership. The Magazine’s content presents a diversity of opinion and analysis, including stories about emerging regional dynamics, solutions to critical national challenges, and an international perspective of contemporary political, economic, and socio-cultural issues. The December Issue includes sections discussing technology, health, sports, and world leadership. The editors of Melange Magazine hope that the latest Issue would serve as a unique mainstay of substantial knowledge on regional politics and economy to bring about a positive change in society.

We hope that you will have a pleasant reading experience!

The team of the Melange International Magzine wishes you Merry Christmas, Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy New Year in advance!
