The Belt and Road Forum (BRF) has affirmed efforts to strengthen cooperation in coordinating development of the One Belt and One Road (OBOR) Initiative with other plans and initiatives to promote partnerships among Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and other regions. World leaders gathered in Beijing for ‘Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation’ to embrace a Chinese solution to stimulate global growth and promote prosperity for all. Other delegates include officials, entrepreneurs, financiers and journalists from over 130 countries, and representatives of key international organizations, such as UN Secretary-General Antonic Guterres, World Bank President J irn Yong Kim, and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde. The two-day forum, which also features a round-table summit of global leaders, is ooe of the highest-level assemblies io today’s world. At its center is Chinese President Xi’s grand plan to better combine the rapidly expanding Chinese economy with the development of Asia, Europe, Africa and beyond. Named after.the historic Silk Road, the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed by Xi in 2013 to chan out new territories for international cooperation. Belt & Road Initiative a global model of inclusive development for shared prosperity: N awaz Sharif Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif while addressing the Belt and Road Forum said that Belt and Road initiative was the pathway to a global model of inclusive development based on the universal principles of shared prosperity that President Xi so strongly upheld. He congratulated Chinese President Xi for his visionary initiative of “One Belt-One Road”, commending the tremendous efforts of Chinese government and people for making the forum an historic global event of region and the world at large. He also congratulated President Xi for choosing a very apt theme “Cooperation for Common Prosperity.” “The presence of such a large number of Heads of State and Government and distinguished world leaders at the Forum is testimony to your great leadership and acknowledgment of the growing stature of China on the international map. As an old friend, it is a matter of immense pleasure for me, my government and the people of Pakistan to witness the success of this event as well as the transformational potential of OBOR for the peace, progress and prosperity of the people of the world” he added. Our support for this seminal initiative is rooted in the postulates chac we have laid down today in the joint declaration” he said adding that in resolving to uphold the spirit of peace, cooperation, openness, transparency, inclusiveness, equality,mutual learning, mutual benefit, and mutual respect, within the framework and principles of the United Nations Charter and international laws, this initiative provides an excellent model for “win-win” cooperation at the global level. Connectivity is not just about connected countries and businesses; it is mainly about connected peoples and nations” Nawaz Sharif said adding, as we connect Shin Jiang with Gwadar and Karachi, we are not only connecting two nations, but on a much broader scale, two regions, which in turn will provide links to the Middle East and Africa on one side and Europe and the rest of the world on the other.
