An Eminent Public Figure ( Fawad Hussain Chaudhry )

Fawad Chaudhry is acknowledged for many things. Being a senior politician of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, he is currently serving as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting. In the last two years, he has reshaped his political image for independently turning the almost comatose Ministry of Science and Technology of Pakistan into a vivacious hub of potential and innovation. Previously, in 2018 moving from the high-profile Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and in 2019 taking charge of a ministry that was barely ever in news for any revolutionary work, he changed the whole scenario. In Pakistan at governmental level, he has made science desirable, which was not like this ever before. A ministry veiled in dusty files was given a new life. It is something to acknowledge that in the 21st century, progress of a country is almost impossible without focusing on the four prerequisites of human development that includes science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Fawad Chaudhry has mainstreamed all these during his tenure at ministry of science and technology. He belongs to a prominent Jat family of Vains Clan of district Jhelum. A lawyer by profession and a politician by passion. His family has strong political identifications. The family has played a very noteworthy role in local as well as national politics. His grandfather along with other family members have also served significant positions in the government as well as in the superior judiciary. Before joining PTI, Fawad served at various positions. After joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), being Secretary Information of the party he has been managing media-related matters.  In addition to being Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting, he is also Secretary Information and Central Spokesman for PTI.

Apart from his political career, he previously worked for Electronic Media and hosted a current affairs show. In the general elections 2018 held on July 25, Chaudhry Fawad was elected Member National Assembly from Jhelum (NA-67). He also won a Provincial Assembly seat (PP-27) from Jhelum, which he later vacated in order to hold his seat of National Assembly. Being the minister of science and technology his achievements are worth mentioning.  During his tenure, four different task forces were formed for agriculture, health, education and alternative energy. On his directions, a Biotechnological, Herbal Medical Park was also built in Jhelum. An agriculture service company was also formed for intensive farming.  The formation of the lunar calendar was another achievement by the ministry. According to Fawad Chaudhry the first thing, he has done being Federal Minister of Science and Technology was to modify the vision. The dedicated research that used to be the obligation of this ministry, was assigned to the Higher Education Commission during his tenure. He categorically made it clear that the job of the ministry is to use applied research in three main focused areas that includes exports, imports replacement, and progress of human resource. He also specified the projects under ministry of science and technology with key areas like electronics, chemicals and precision agriculture.

In electronics, much was done to incorporate modern techniques in agriculture and surveillance.  In chemicals several researches were done and incorporated.  Concerning development of human resource, several scholarships were introduced. Recognized for his honest comments and noticeable existence on social media, Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry has recently crossed four million followers on Twitter. He created his official account on Twitter back in 2010 and now been followed by over 2,600 people. He is often seen with his followers on the micro-blogging site with the latest updates of political matters, his party, and the general situation in the country. Currently being the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, he is in quest of a partnership and cooperation with other countries in the field of Art and culture.

Recently during a meeting with Egyptian envoy, Tarek Dahrough, he suggested a mutual venture and collaboration engaging Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan in the field of film production. He also proposed a virtual meeting between the Film Producers Associations of Pakistan and Egypt discussing cooperation in the field of feature films. If done, this will be something worth mentioning in the field of cultural exchange programs and by virtue of this the ultimate cooperation between the stakeholders. As he remained part of the media fertility, he is the pertinent person to deal with the media affairs. His previous achievements being Federal Minister for Science and Technology are acknowledged at every platform and currently his presence in Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is an evident example of his media management skills
