Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost hosted a reception here to mark 40th anniversary of the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution & 70th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Iran and Pakistan. Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Dr. Fehmida Mirza graced the occasion as the chief guest. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Khan, former National Security Adviser Lieutenant General (R) Nasser Khan Janjua, foreign ambassadors, senior diplomats, politicians, retired generals, senior journalists and analysts attended the ceremony and congratulated Iran on the auspicious occasion.
Minister Dr. Fehmida Mirza congratulated people and the government of Iran on behalf of the President Arif Alivi and Prime Minister Imran Khan on the 40th anniversary of the glorious victory of Islamic Revolution. “It is my profound pleasure to join you all to celebrate the 40th anniversary of glorious Islamic Revolution,” she said. She added that Iran and Pakistan share seven decades of friendship which has grown stronger over the years.
Thus function was well attended not only by politicians, ambassadors, diplomats, businessmen and media persons but participation of Pakistanis from all spheres of life in the prestigious event showed that Iran enjoys support in Pakistan both at public and official levels. The event commenced with the national anthem of both the countries which was followed by the cake-cutting ceremony. The anthems were sung by Iranian boys and girls.
The ambassador of Iran welcomed all the guests with pleasant smile on his face and opened arms as a welcome gesture. The Iranian ambassador also delivered a speech on this occasion in which highlighted the close relations and partnership between Iran and Pakistan and said that besides their national day, they were also celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iran. Iranian students in Islamabad also performed national anthems of Iran and Pakistan which was warmly welcomed by the audience. A large cake was also cut to celebrate the occasion.
Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost in his speech said it is matter of great satisfaction that 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution is being celebrated along with the 70th year of Iran-Pakistan diplomatic relations. He expressed the hope that cooperation between the two friendly countries would further strengthen in times to come. The ambassador also highlighted the importance of the Islamic Revolution in the history of Iran.
On the occasion a traditional Iranian music band Ava-e-Barbod performed live music and enthralled the audience. Mehdi Honordost also thanked the COPAIR and Melange media for preparing a brilliant report on the occasion.
